Leaving home to another one

So I was really excited about coming to college because this would be the start of something that could last a life time. I was nervous when I was packing because nobody was there physically to help me like I'm used to.. I didn't know where to start and where to finish. But my dad was there to help when I really needed it the most. I really didn't want to leave my home because I had spent so much time there and had made many memories. I really miss my own bed that I made an indention in the very middle, my dusty TV that I would never throw away, my retro Nintendo gamecube and most of all my dad.

When driving to college, I started to get pretty nervous because I didn't know what to expect out of college or even what this particular school was going to be like. When I got closer to the school, I became nervous and more anxious. I was ready to pee my pants just on the fact that I'm out my element. Now that I'm here, I feel better about the whole college and will try my best and succeed in all my endeavors. I wont do it alone though, I will ask god for help and all the wonderful people that got me here to this point.I pray that he looks over everyone that believes. He is here to help and guide us to our destiny and I know my will be an important role.

Apps II coming to a close :(

A year later? The aspects I would miss of high school would have to be waking up each morning to come to school to see all of my friends. I would miss having lunch with them each day, making them laugh and just being around them as much. I would miss all my teachers who I have gain bonds with throughout the whole four years rather its strong or weak. I would miss failing test with other classmates and making each other feel better because we are in the same boat. I would miss arguing with my normal arguee's because thats just what we do, its nature. lol I would just miss school in general.

I think my best critical anaylsis would have to be about current events that were going on and was causing alot of conflict between countries. I felt like it was important issue when people are being killed for standing up for expressed power of being free in all spects of life. I do think blogging is something I will continue to do after I leave this class because it something that I started and will continue to do. Hopefully I will gain more followers to view my blog and comment on the issues I will write about. I would also update things about college, class, new courses and life in general.

To be the ambassador I will encourage others to use the free tools online and me to keep using them because they will always be around. I would encourage other people to use technolgy period because its always changing and you have to be relevant in this society. I will also try to stay up to date with the new aspects of technolgy and the rapid changes.

Basic elements that cause the digital divide is simply the classes in America. Rather its the working class or the wealthy class. People who dont normally have alot of money can save money to but computers but they are unable to get the internet. It also has to do with the generation that you come from. Some older people arent so tech savy and struggle to do certain such as txting. It also has to do with will of a person because some people are willing to learn new things and others just simply arent.

What online social media literacy means to me is the understanding of the media of the internet and what it can offer. This can be just a simple click of how to download something off the internet or even setting the internet up in your new apartment or house. It also has to do with the new technology that comes out that you are aware and should be up to try it out even if you dont know anything about it. The understanding could be small or big.

Should I share?

File sharing to me is not really stealing.. Ok I lied. File sharing has become quite popular all over the globe and has become a mainstream problem. The main site that was being used to download illegal media was called "Limewire". If you live in this world, there is know way you dont know anything about the site. The owner of the site, Mike Gorton made alot of money and now he is going to pay the consequences of running the website while he knew it was wrong.

The second issue is how do you arrest a person for stealing music when in fact it could have been anyone but the owner of the device. The IP address is what the courts are trying to use and which seeems right its not. That doesnt clarify if it was truly that person, yes it does lead them in the direction of the person who stole the music but it could have been anyone. Anybody can use someone elses IP address to steal anything and the person getting accused will know nothing of the sort or what is going on.

The file sharing act goes is very long and difficult to understand. The main reason is to stop the illegal downloading of media that needs to be paid for. They are alot of reasons why the act is bad and doesn't make sense. The reason the article gives like ISP cost and unsupported accusations

Late and its no excuse

They have been a recent break in on the Playstaions Sony company. Players have not been able to get online for the past two weeks and nobody knew why. They were sent an error message while they tried to log on and play with other players around the world.

They were allegations that the company was stolen from. It was rumoured that credit cards, names, adresses were stolen from the company. The company did not mention to over 70 million subscribers that they could be in possible danger for credit card theft, and even identity theft. The subscribers are mad and they want actions taken. There is even a class action lawsuit against Sony.

I think the company was very negligent to its consumers and they should have told them the first instant. The people who did the crime could have did so much while the consumers didnt know anything. Sony posted on its blog saying you should check your bank card statements. I think they should be sued because they waited to long to say anything about the incident.

How technology has changed education

Education as we know has always been traditional. We wake up, get ready for school, eat a nice breakfast and be on our way to school rather a school bus or metro. We take traditional classes and learn things the way people have been learning as far as history will allow. There is a new attraction to learning and it has much to do with the use of Social Networking and technology all together.

There is a school who allows the class to take breaks in class. They are not normal breaks. They are text breaks, where the students take five minutes out of there day to stimulate their mind, or at least its supposed to stimulate the student. The article talks about the downs of how technology has implemented its ways into all young  people's mind. They stop us from learning the things we need in life, like communication skills and other life skills.

"The downside of such immersion in technological devices, he said, is that they’re not having conversations, looking people in the eye, or noticing verbal cues. “These are important ‘technologies,’ so to speak, that have evolved over centuries and are tremendously powerful."

 The other article I read talked about the use of technology for at risk students. They use a program called Project K-Nect. These student do not normally do homework out a book. They use smart phones to do all or most of their work. They download apps and work on work:Algebra I. Other people use these apps and they communicate with other schools by sending S.O.S's. These are alerts for other schools that need help. People respond within minutes. The program works in some aspects because they enroll in AP classes.

In my opinion I believe in working hard and with that your goal should not be any harder than you did while working, Technology should be kept separate and education should be a different aspect because technology could be a huge distraction. 

What is Art? How can it be defined?

A song rapped by Chris Brown. A painting drawn by Van Gough. A dance recital of young girls who have practice ballet since they trained. Me writing a poem can be called art.

I think art is anything different or things that are out of the ordinary. I think art helps people live daily. Some people just cannot live without music and that is a form of art. Art moves people and picks emotions out of certain people.

I dont really think art has a real definition because it comes in so many forms. Art has existed even before people were even on earth. From the size of the sun, The solar system, the tree in the tale between Adam & Eve. It has been here and it will never disappera even when its destroyed.

Solutions For your F'ddictions. T'ddicitons for you tweetin birds!

In class Mr. Morean gave us questions about the discussion we had in class.

According to this article, the solutions that wouldn’t work would be to track my time on these social networks. I feel like I can handle myself enough to not have to check my time on all the sites I get on, including youtube. I don’t think it’s ethical to track myself because it seems if I’m a child and I need help to track my time. The other solution that wouldn’t be able to work for me is to use the site productively. If I had an account for a company I worked for in twitter I would definitely be productive. Bu if this is my personal account, I feel like I should be able to whatever I want.

Other solutions that I can give are the one mentioned in the article. You have to prioritize your goals or work. That should come first and you can do whatever you want to do after the work is complete. The article gave great solutions but my solution would be to not use any of the distractions and focus on whatever needs the most attention to benefit you and your future. If a person is really struggling with social networking, they should seek counseling or in general, accounts should be deleted from further distractions.

I use social network sites when I get bored. Every now and then I will get on while I’m doing my homework just to see what’s going on or because I lose focus on what I’m doing. I spent over three hours on one homework assignment because of facebook. (I was deeply upset) I don’t think I’m addicted to the sites because I have other things to do but it can cause all types of problems.  When doing important things I often just listen to music to keep focus.

During the week I didnt log into facebook because I wanted to win the challenge but that didnt last for long. I received numerous emails from facebook and it was very tempting but I still kept away. I started thinking about putting things as my status on facebook but then the challenge always came back to haunt me.

I couldnt help it anymore, I logged on just to see what everyone else was up to. I didnt message anybody or post a new status. Even being on the website made it worse. I just couldnt wait, so friday is when I started writing a status. I wanted to win the challenege but facebook, even social media has grown on us as a "norm" of life.

The world today is so connected! What Happend to Communication?

I have had a problem with this for a long time rather its friends I like to hang out or someone I'm trying to pursue. I really never understood how you could make plans with a person and blow them off without any type of contact; and they inisisted on the plans(lol). It just amazes me how a person could ignore somebody when they are making it worse on their end.

Can somebody please tell me what I'm missing because I'm so lost. I tried to contact the person but not trying to be pressed about the situation. I just have been running into this problem constantly and its becoming very annoying and frustrating!

Margie Newman

I had an oral and physical presentation given by Mrs. Margie Newman. She is a number of things so its hard to pin point her career. She works for a non profit organization, she does the public relations for the comapny. I wasnt looking forward to the presentation because I thought it would be so boring and I would be uninterested. But she sured changed all that.

What she mainly does is uses the Internet and all of it fun features it has to offer. She started talking about a website called namechk. You type your name in the search on the site and it shows you all the unavailable and available places using your name. It also is a good sites that you never know existed. It would be a great tool for any person.

What I like especially about her presentation was when she talked about how you portray yourself as a professional on the internet. She says "the internet will always be here and nothing is ever deleted" I think this is important because things can come back to haunt you if not taken seriously, depending on the type of career you want. I also liked, that we were her first high school class she ever lectured, because she mostly gave lectures to college students. I would recommend her to the tech illiterate!!!!

Call of Juarez: The Cartel

The game "Call of Juarez: the cartel" is set to be banned in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. The game is about the drug wars that were going on in Mexico. The game is expected to be released during the summer.

This game is going be banned for the protection of the children and their young minds. Their are facts that prove violence behavior can come from video games. It renacts some of the same events that happpend in Mexico.

I think the game should be in fact banned, but only to kids under 14 years old. Really I dont think this appropriate for and 14 year old but the brain is much developed and process more. I would say the game is offense to the people who died in the drug wars but what about "Grand Theft Auto:San Andreas" I'm sure people from their could relate to people in Ciudad Juarez.

SNL Family Guy & The Office

Ok, so SNL is so the funniest. I like how they have the different sketches. It shows the variety of characters and performances and creativity of everyone. My favorite would have to be.... Hahaha cant choose, their is so much to choose from!!

Next is family guy! I love this show the most and could watch it 24/7. Its so funny and the characters have more than personality, they... They just have it! I cant explain it but stewie is the best! He makes the show and without him or the other characters.

Finally, the driest humour show around, The Office. Ugggggggghhhhhh. I love this show, its ridiculous. The comedy is so... (shhhhh) before you miss the joke shows. Its easily to receive and process the jokes, they are so funny, a minute later. I watch this show faithfully, its like no other!

Morally Right? "I'm not wrestling a Girl!"

"I have a tremendous amount of respect for Cassy and Megan [Black] and their accomplishments," Northrup said in a statement given to the media following his official forfeit. "However, wrestling is a combat sport and it can get violent at times.

This is the young lady who won the State tournament against a boy. He made the decision to not wrestler her because she is a girl and his spiritual belief.

"As a matter of conscience and faith, I do not believe that it is appropriate for a boy to engage a girl in this manner. It is unfortunate that I have been placed in a situation not seen in most other high school sports in Iowa."

I think he should have took the chance in doing something that not many people get in life. Its like once in a life time. I also think he should have wrestled her because it would have gave them both the experience to say "I wrestled a boy or girl and won or lost in a State tournament"

In my opinion I would have wrestled her down to the ground, not to dominate a weaker being but show that I have no competiton. To show I'm the best and that I didnt get here just by being a certain size or to get points for the team to win. It also would have made her proud to do her the honor because this is so rare.

Egypt was first, Now its Bahrain's Turn

Everyone is aware of the change that is to come in Egypt. Due to strong protesting and citizens who did not give up on each other. Bahrain had a peaceful protest going in Manama, Pearl square. The main part of the city, police brutally attacked the peaceful protesters, they even attacked women and children. They spoke to the police "We are peaceful, peaceful!" They had no remorse or any feelings of killing innocent people who only want change and tired of the old ways.

According to yahoo news, the country is run by an Sunni Monarchy. They make all the important decisions instead of the people. Most of the citizens are Shiite and are oppressed because of their religion. They make up over 70% of the country's population and are getting murdered by the numbers. Everything in the country was shut down and nobody went to work.

I think that they are trying to create an image for everyone to see because they do not want anymore change. Egypt stood strong but it was not worse then the killings of innocent people. This is outrageous and should not be taken so lightly, I got teary eyed when they said "We are peaceful" and they still beat them. How much is to be spilled before the right can come? Too much. If I could take part to lead a demonstration I would, if I was killed, it would be just that, I would stay strong to fight for what I believe in!!

How the internet changed communication

The Internet changed communication so largely that nobody knew how or what it would turn into. Their are so many aspects of what the Internet and Communication itself could change. The Internet changed communication by Tim Berners-Lee. He created web pages which people could view on the web. Apple Introduced GUI, which is graphic user interface allows you to see icons instead of words. AOL introduced early instant messenging, which was payed hourly. <------- Can you believe that

Then in 1998 the next change of communication came to life. Broaband was introduced. There is no more dialing up through a falty phone connection and the drop of your connection. The next way Internet changed communication is net shopping. Ebay has millions of customer and products.

My opinion is that communication changed the Internet drastically at an untraceable rate. Without it I think we would be stuck in an ice age and we would all be very upset. I also feel things will keep changing and that it will be unstoppable.

Any Suggestions

 So lately I have beeen coming late to school and it gets really irritating. I go to sleep around 12 when I'm really tired, 2 or 3 when I'm bored with myself. So I wake up, but I dont get all the way up. Sometimes I lay there for 20 mins, or I will get up to take a shower. Sometimes it takes me 30 mins to get dressed. I want to know does anybody have any good suggestions for me. Any comment is welcome!!!!

What is the Internet?

My reaction to the video with Katie Kirk and Brian Gumbel was really funny because he was really being sarcastic about the idea of what internet is. Thats what alot of people do when they dont know about something; they make fun of it. They were professional people and they could not explain what the internet is. The intermet is a bunch of computers who send signals back and fourth to each other. The signals go through pole lines to ISP's and the they come back to the client. In class during the test, I felt confident taking the test because I know alot about technology. So it didnt take me very long to do it. The vocabulary words were not a challenge but some of the words I didnt know or thought I knew.

The Tyrant In Cairo!!

The people in Cairo, Egypt are getting really tired of this dictatorship Hosni Mubarak is claiming is Democracy. The citizens have took through the streets to protest for whats right and they are not afraid of rubber bullets, tear gas or the bullified police. The egyptians want jobs and fair life which the president has not given to them.

The citizens are still somewhat sane because inbetween the fighting and rioting, protesting they are going to prayer service. Afterwards they go right back to which they have started. The government went as far as turning the internet off. They literally called the company and told them to turn it off completely. They say its democracy but its really not.

In my opinion I would be afriad to even go outside my house to do anything. I would definitely participate in everything because the people who are the ones who elect the president so they can definitely kick them out office. I would be upset to get shot by an rubber bullet, which I'm sure it hurts like hell. I would go ballistic if the interent is cut off. Some poeple rely on it and cant live without it. Its an neccessity to some people and the thought of it sounds crazy.
